Above and Beyond TELC Program

This combined 7th/8th grade program will serve identified gifted students under the Technology Enhanced Learning Community (TELC) program. TELC will provide diverse, higher-level thinking opportunities for all students and will recognize the benefit of interaction with their intellectual peers.

Above and Beyond will encompass and exted the goals and objectives of FUSD and the philosophy of the TELC program. The focus of the gifted program will consider the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.

Students will be required to adhere to the guidelines and the contract requirements of the TELC program as well as the expectations of the individual teachers on the gifted team.

Beliefs

We must provide students with the opportunity to meet and exceed the standards according to their cognitive growth.

We must implement the use of multiple strategies to address curriculum, deliver instruction, and monitor and measure student performance.

Each individual within an organization can benefit from reflection and

objective self-assessment of their performance.

Qualifications

· 3.6 GPA or better

· Teacher recommendation

· AND one of the following:

·      90% or better standardized test scores OR

·      Already identified gifted on a state approved test
